Make the most of your trip to Peru by combining the natural wonders of the high Andes and the Amazon jungle with the archaeological marvels of Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. This memorable tour combines two of the main regions of Peru for an in-depth taste of what this stunning country has to offer. Visit the legendary Machu Picchu and hike through the Andes alongside the highest mountain in southern Peru, Ausangate. The journey ends with a couple of days in one of the most biodiverse areas on Earth, as we explore the rain forest in search of macaws, giant otters and other exotic fauna.
The Ausangate Trek is the true image of the high Andes, the Incas worshipped this sacred mountain. Ausangate is considered an apu, a holy mountain, traditionally a place of worship and offerings from pre-Inca times. Apu Ausangate is located in the Cordillera Vilcanota (6,342m). In our trek we cross spectacular passes, explore a radiant landscape below ice peaks and enormous glaciers. Ausangate is a stronghold of traditional Quechua culture/world immersion, the native people who live at 14000ft tending their herds of llamas and alpacas surrounded by colourful glacial lakes, deep red cliffs and relaxing hot spring with Andean atmosphere.
If you’re lucky there is a chance of encountering condors, and other Andean fauna such as Andean fox. Although you will be hiking at altitudes of 5,100 m, this is a superb trip for seasoned trekkers who love a true outdoor adventure. From Cusco, fly from the Andes to Puerto Maldonado, a jungle town located in the lowlands of the Amazon. Travel by motorized canoe to our eco-lodge in the Tambopata Rainforest Area. Get lost in this wonderful place and observe the noisy and joyful parrot flocks, as well as the more than 1200 bird species. Learn and explore with our expert local guides.
